First Family Trip...

This past Friday we packed up and went back to Colorado to visit our great friends and introduce them to Betsy. She got a lot of attention and cuddles, which she loved every minute of.

Do you think we brought enough stuff?? Packing for a baby is quite a challenge and that is with an entire car worth of space, so flying in a couple weeks should be interesting!! I guess we'll have to leave the bathtub behind for that trip :-)

Allie and Riley wanted to get their hands on Betsy right away. Miss Allie figured out quickly that sometimes babies cry and whenever Betsy did she was happy to hand her back, but luckily they had a few moments together when Betsy was not screaming.

Angel was one of Betsy's favorites this weekend because Angel never wanted to put her down. Thanks again Angel for getting Betsy used to being held ALL day, it could be a long week for Betsy who will have to adjust back to normal life where her mom has to set her down to get at least one household task done.

Betsy went to her first party Saturday night and she was so happy to see more new faces and be held for a few more hours. She even got her own darling cake, compliments of Abby. Unfortunately Betsy rounded out the evening by screaming for an hour before crashing on Patty's chest at 9:00pm and sleeping until 7:00am without a peep, so I guess listening to her screaming in front of 20 people was worth it in exchange for her first full night of sleep!

The smallest party guest was Sidney who was born 6 weeks early and is the most precious little peanut. We wanted to get a picture of Betsy and Sidney side by side, but we didn't want to risk Betsy clubbing Sidney with her constantly waving fists!

Betsy's new obsession is being held in any position that allows her to see what is happening around her. She has discovered lights, windows, TV and anything else bright, so she needs you to hold her so that she can enjoy those things with new obstructions to her view. Luckily the Baby Bjorn makes it a little easier to give her what she wants while having free hands to do things like dishes, laundry, or in Brett's case eat and have a beer :-)

Apparently I have a thing for pink stripes. Betsy was a little camouflage baby with her bottom half getting lost in her blanket, too bad she didn't think it was as funny as I did!

Riley could not get enough of Betsy and spent most of the weekend asking to hold her, which she did while having to sit on the couch, but that got Betsy angry because she wasn't moving around like she prefers, so finally right before we left Riley got to stand up with Betsy and they had a great time bouncing around the family room without any crying.

Allie decided to give holding Betsy one more try and as luck would have it, instead of yelling in Allie's face, Betsy smiled. I am loving the smiles and hope they keep coming!

To round out the weekend Betsy spent the end of the 5 hour car ride working on a little "surprise" for us that ended up all over the car seat, her outfit, her legs and her blanket. I only got as far as the laundry room before I couldn't take it anymore and had to clean her up. Needless to say, unlike her mom, she didn't seem too stressed and spent a little time just relaxing in the buff with her favorite new toy. Who knew it could take so little effort to entertain her??
